The Internet Archive’s 25th Anniversary celebration “From Wayback to Way Forward: The Internet Archive Turns 25” featured a rock star, a future star, and insights from the “Father of the Internet.” There were forward-looking talks by science fiction author, Cory Doctorow, and an announcement that the Wayback Machine has archived 1.0 trillion web captures. But in the end, what’s the key to any great celebration?

The Peoples’ Democratic Party has denounced the decision to deport the Syrians who shared videos of themselves while eating bananas: “While the war is still ongoing, migrants cannot be left for death by using the ‘banana-eating videos’ as an excuse.”

As #BilgiMedya department, we have contributed to UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week (#GlobalMILWeek)

It is Republic Day tomorrow and today is also a national holiday. I took the opportunity to work on my own stuff. I have several writing pieces to finish up by 1 November. I have a relatively heavy workload this semester and every holiday helps, not for rest but channelizing the work-energy (!)

I am proud to have organized a series of events for UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week with my colleagues from the department but also from the other universities and civic initiatives. It was tiring but it was worth it. All events were in Turkish but I have entered the titles in English here.

Three events were broadcast through our School’s Youtube channel and the others from SosyalKafa
