
According to a recent survey conducted by the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, only 34.1 percent of İstanbulites support the Canal İstanbul project, a planned artificial waterway between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.

A 540-year-old portrait of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II, known as Mehmed the Conqueror, purchased by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, arrived in Istanbul from London on the night of Aug. 20.
