As the number of coronavirus cases in Turkey continues to rise daily, the precautions have also increased. It is nearly impossible to see people on some of Istanbul’s most crowded streets. Every time someone coughs or sneezes they are looked upon with anger, and shops are closing their doors one by one.

People at shopping malls, in bookstores, in shops of Beyoğlu… It is far less crowded than usual. There are few people on the streets, most of them with masks. Trying to keep my social distance, I ask, “How has coronavirus affected your lives?”

Turkish taxi drivers protest decrease in passengers due to coronavirus

 

Taxi drivers in Istanbul’s Esenyurt and Beylikdüzü districts staged a protest, saying that they have difficulties in paying rents to the license owners.
